Impact Report 2024: A Year of Change

At Jump, we believe that small actions create big change. Our 2024 Impact Report highlights the incredible efforts of our members and partners in driving sustainable action. This year, over 100,000 members took part in our programmes, logging an astounding 4.5 million sustainable actions, demonstrating the power of collective impact.

With climate change and resource depletion becoming more urgent, it is essential for businesses and individuals to take meaningful steps towards sustainability. From reducing carbon emissions to changing workplace behaviours, this report showcases how engagement in sustainability can lead to real, measurable results.

Key Impact Highlights from 2024

Our mission is to empower and motivate people to take action for a sustainable future. Thanks to our dedicated members and clients, we have achieved some incredible milestones this year:

  • Over 4.5 million positive actions were taken across our programmes.
  • More than 4.7 million minutes of exercise were logged, promoting well-being and sustainability.
  • A total of £18,315 was donated to charity through sustainable actions.

These figures represent a growing movement towards sustainability. As a result, they prove that individual efforts can lead to significant collective change.

The Environmental Impact We’ve Made

Jump members contributed to significant environmental savings, and the results speak for themselves:

  • 3.5 million kg of CO₂e were prevented from entering the atmosphere, helping to mitigate climate change.
  • 2.8 million kWh of electricity were saved, reducing the demand for fossil fuels.
  • 4.3 million miles were travelled sustainably, cutting down on transport-related emissions.
  • 170 million litres of water were conserved, an essential step in protecting global water resources
  • 830 tonnes of waste were diverted from landfill, supporting a circular economy.

To put this into perspective, these achievements are equivalent to powering 274,000 homes for a day, saving 2.1 million bathtubs of water, and growing over 58,000 tree seedlings for a year.

How Our Members Are Driving Change

Engagement in sustainability is about more than just numbers. Therefore, our Annual Member’s Survey sought to understand how Jump has influenced long-term behaviour change. The results were compelling:

  • 90% of members are now more conscious of their energy use, taking steps to reduce consumption
  • 87% have changed their consumption habits, opting for more sustainable choices.
  • 91% now understand more about how their actions impact the environment, leading to more informed decision-making.
  • 97% have embedded sustainability into their daily routines, proving that small habitual changes can have lasting effects.

These findings confirm that long-term behaviour change is possible when individuals are given the right tools, knowledge, and motivation.

Key Programmes and Campaigns That Made a Difference

Foodwise Challenge: Reducing Food Waste

Food waste is a growing global issue. In fact, nearly one-third of all food produced globally goes to waste, contributing to food insecurity and environmental damage.

To address this, we launched the Foodwise Challenge, which encouraged participants of select programmes to adopt sustainable food habits. The results were significant:

  • 31,000 sustainable actions completed.
  • 95,000kg of food waste saved, preventing unnecessary landfill waste.
  • £300,000 saved collectively by members, highlighting the financial benefits of waste reduction.
  • 331,000kg of CO₂e emissions avoided, reducing the carbon footprint associated with food disposal.

KBR Sustain: Sustainable Procurement

Sustainable supply chains are essential for corporate responsibility, and therefore sustainable procurement is becoming a business imperative, not just an ethical choice.

This year, we worked with KBR to educate employees on sustainable procurement, so that their programme could deliver real impact:

  • 5,615 sustainable actions completed.
  • 2,780kg of CO₂e emissions prevented, demonstrating the potential of greener supply chains.
  • 81% employee sign-up rate, reflecting strong engagement.
  • 100% of participants preferred this method over traditional training, proving the effectiveness of interactive sustainability education.

Camden EcoPoints: Engaging Residents in Sustainability

Since 2016, we’ve partnered with Camden Council to reward residents for sustainable actions. In 2024, the programme expanded to include climate adaptation activities, further strengthening local environmental efforts.

“Jump have been a fantastic help in getting our residents engaged with our council sustainability strategies. With nearly 20% of all households in Camden signed up for the EcoPoints programme, we couldn’t be happier with the progress we have made to incentivise our residents to recycle and travel sustainably.” -Clive West, Environmental Services Manager at Camden Borough Council

Bridging the Awareness-Action Gap

While many people support sustainability, there is often a gap between awareness and action. Research from Harvard Business Review suggests that organisations must create systems that embed sustainability into everyday decision-making.

Similarly, our Sustainability Engagement Trends 2024 report revealed that:

  • 86% of employees want to contribute more to sustainability but lack the necessary resources.
  • Employers must incentivise sustainable behaviour to encourage lasting engagement.

Jump helps organisations bridge this gap by providing interactive platforms, rewards, and community-driven initiatives.
