Jump wins funding to help deliver a Net Zero NHS

£1 million in funding for ten pioneering innovations to help deliver a Net Zero NHS

SBRI Healthcare has awarded £1 million to ten innovations to help deliver a Net Zero NHS – reducing carbon emissions and improving healthcare.

The newly funded projects aim to bring benefits to patients and care service users, whilst reducing carbon emissions. Innovations include tools to support clinical decision making, improve care pathways, support patients; manage delivery of anaesthetic gases and reusable surgical textiles.

Climate change is a major threat to health, impacting on both the provision of services and the resilience of healthcare systems. The NHS is the world’s first healthcare system to commit to achieving net zero carbon emissions.

SBRI Healthcare, in partnership with the Greener NHS Programme, the AHSN Network and Accelerated Access Collaborative, launched a nationwide call – Competition 18 ‘Delivering a Net Zero NHS’ – to help respond to this challenge. The competition sought innovations that could help reduce carbon emissions and maintain or improve the overall delivery of healthcare within the NHS.
