Notts Green Rewards Recognised at MJ Awards

This month we’re proud to announce that our collaborative programme with seven Nottinghamshire District Councils, Nottingham City Council and Nottingham County Council called Green Rewards has been recognised and highly commended at the Municipal Journal (MJ) Achievement Awards for Innovation in Partnerships. The resident engagement programme launched in September 2021, following the success of Nottingham Trent’s programme which launched in 2019 and The University of Nottingham’s programme which launched in 2020, and now the county wide collaboration has been recognised for its use of a Jump platform to engage residents, staff and students in sustainable behaviours.

Green Rewards uses bespoke online activities to engage residents in key sustainability topics and reward them for implementing positive behaviours. Activities cover topics such as water saving, energy saving and sustainable travel. Since implementation, the programme has gained nearly 7,000 members who together have undertaken 225,000 actions, which has avoided emitting about 624 tonnes of carbon. That’s the equivalent of taking 139 cars off the road for a year or not driving 1,600,000 miles in an average petrol powered car. This distance is the equivalent of driving around the earth nearly 63 times!

Notts Green Rewards has emerged as an exemplary model of an effective sustainability engagement programme. Its recent recognition at the MJ Awards affirms the platform’s significant impact on inspiring positive behaviour change and motivating individuals to actively contribute to tackling climate change. By utilising innovative gamification techniques and fostering partnerships among local authorities and educational institutions, Green Rewards has created a transformative experience that makes sustainable living accessible and enjoyable for Nottinghamshire residents. The achievements of this initiative exemplify the power of collaboration, technology, and community engagement in driving positive change for a more sustainable future.

If you reside in Broxtowe, Bassetlaw, Gedling, Mansfield, Newark and Sherwood, Rushcliffe, or Nottingham City, you too can be part of this remarkable initiative, sign up for Notts Green Rewards here.
