University of Exeter launch behaviour change programme

The University of Exeter have become the latest University to use the Jump engagement platform to reward and motivate their community, supporting on and off campus working. Branded as ‘Green Rewards’, the programme enjoyed a successful pilot and now rolls out to all staff and students.

Linking actions across campuses

Key to the design of Green Rewards is incorporating actions that can take place across all Exeter campuses, with adaptations for those working and studying from home. With sites not only around Exeter but also at Penryn, Falmouth, building a sustainable community requires careful consideration of all participants, wherever they are based. Activities are designed to be universally accessible as well as provide information specific to each campus.

Supporting off campus working

As we continue to change our working patterns during this pandemic, Green Rewards will support staff and students as they work and study remotely. The programme includes practical advice on healthy home working habits and rewards people for the positive behaviours that they maintain. Participants can earn points for staying active, taking care of their mental health and growing their own plants.

Tackling our climate emergency

With many of our university clients declaring a Climate Emergency or working towards Net Zero carbon targets, University of Exeter has ambitious plans to integrate sustainability and wellbeing at the center of its strategy to tackle the climate crisis.

Emma Page from the University of Exeter says “The University declared a Climate Emergency last year and we see our environmental engagement programme as an exciting step in engaging with our colleagues,  (both staff and students);  helping them understand how all our actions impact our environmental and carbon targets and help bring about positive change. The shift to remote working has certainly introduced new challenges as well as opportunities, which have also brought changes in our footprint. Identifying how we can deliver long term carbon and environmental benefits form a key part of our Green recovery agenda.”
